Heather Andrews, Office Manager

 

It is likely that Heather will be your primary touchpoint at TDS. As the Office Manager, Heather consistently goes beyond the call of duty to do what is necessary to ensure each family is served thoughtfully and well. Heather is responsible for booking appointments, and managing the office. Her efficiency and resourcefulness is a great asset to our team. Family satisfaction is her greatest priority.

Irene Ingram, Founder, Occupational Therapist

 

Irene Ingram has been an Occupational Therapist since graduating from the Medical University of South Carolina in 1978. In 1980, she founded Therapeutic Designs and Services, Inc. to provide therapy for children in a creative environment.  She was cetified in Sensory Integration in 1981.

 

She has developed research opportunities to advance the study of the autonomic nervous system's role in trauma, stress, healing, attention, creativity, and reflex maturation. She has also researched and developed specialized skills for treating the head and neck.

Irene has trained in the following disciplines:

 

  • Auditory integration with the use Therapeutic Listening and Samonas Sound Therapy

Betty Howell, Occupational Therapy Assistant

 

Betty is an integral component of the team at TDS. She has a soothing and calming demeanor that helps children feel at ease when they arrive. Betty enjoys building relationships with the children and connecting on a personal level. She has a special gift for listening, and truly gives every child her utmost attention. She is flexible and open-minded which gives her the ability to work with children of all ages and under all circumstances.

 

Betty received her Occupational Therapy Assistants degree from Pitt Community College in Greenville, North Carolina in 1996. Since then, she has been engaged in a variety of different therapeutic work experiences.  She has worked as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) in both the school and health systems. She has provided outpatient treatment through rehabilitation and pediatric therapy services.

Janien M Baldwin, Occupational Therapy Assistant

 

Janien is a mother of one son but has taken care of many children throughout her lifetime. She has lived in the Pee Dee area for over 17 years. Janien received her A.A.S. in Science with a minor in Psychology in Occupational Therapy Assistance in Long Island City, NY from LaGuardia Community College in 1994. Having over 23 years of experiene as a Licenced COTA/L, she has wored with people of varying ages within the following settings: SNF, acute care, hospital, outpatient, long term care, home health and pediatrics - and has loved every moment of it. 

One of Janien's has also volunteered at "Camp Can - Do" which specializes in giving burned children a gathering place for one week out of every summer. In her free time she enjoys spending time with family and pets, reading, painting, and fellowshipping. 

Debbie Jabaily, Occupational Therapy Assistant

 

Debbie received her degree as an Occupational Therapy Assistant in 1985 from Stanly Community College in Albemarle, North Carolina.  She has worked as a COTA/L in a variety of settings to include: private practice, home health, long term care, hospitals, and school systems with pediatric therapy as a primary focus.  She enjoys developing a relationship with the children and their families.  

Debbie loves to learn and feels TDS has provided a wonderful opportunity for her to grow as a therapist.  The environment at TDS promotes treating the whole child and not just 1 or 2 issues.  This integraded "team" approach has allowed her to expand her abilities and provide comprehensive treatment that has been both effective and rewarding.

 

April Lane, Occupational Therapist

 

April's presence at Therapeutic Designs & Services, Inc is hard to miss. With a loving and gentle touch, April focuses on making a difference in the lives of every child she encounters. She is enthusiastic about learning new information, and enjoys challenging the kids, as well as herself. She believes her job as a therapist is continuously evolving and developing every day. She grows in knowledge and experience every week and loves to watch the kids grow.  

 

April graduated from NC State University in 1999 with a BA in Psychology. She gained her Master's degree in Occupational Therapy in 2003 from Miligan College. She worked at Hope Haven Children's Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida, as a Pediatric Occupational Therapist and became certified in the Handwriting Without Tears and Print Tool Assessment programs, Therapeutic Listening

Priscilla Myers,  Occupational Therapist

 

Priscilla is the mother of three and has lived in Hartsville most of the last 20 years.  She received her Bachelors Degree in Occupational Therapy from the Medical University of South Carolina in 1998.  Throughout her career she has focused primarily on pediatrics with time spent in the NICU, PICU, outpatient pediatrics, and the public school system.  She enjoys working with children at all stages of development and ability levels and enjoys seeing them meet their optimal potential.  She has hosted professional training for Bal-a-vis-x the last three years in Hartsville and enjoys bringing people together for learning opportunities.  In her free time she enjoys spending time with her children, biking, running, gardnening, and volunteering.

Beverly Cannarella, Speech Pathologist

 

Beverly loves to establish a relationship with each and every child she works with. With a calm and 

confident demeanor, Beverly is determined to bring out the best in a child. Using positivity as her 

foundation, she breaks off a child's old belief system that they "can't" do something and implants in 

them a desire to come forth in the area of communication. Beverly's therapy style is functional and 

meaningful, so that her work correlates with the child's needs and can be applied to their everyday

Kate Pennington, Speech Pathologist

 

Kate’s first and primary goal when meeting a new client is to help the child feel safe and loved.  Once this connection is made, the child’s mind opens up, bringing forth the opportunity for communication to blossom.  Kate likes to reach children through language play and by setting up natural settings so that functional communication can develop.  Working closely with parents and other therapists or teachers, she strives to help patients generalize new concepts and skills so that growth and learning can take place across all environments.

Janice O'Sullivan, Academic Services

 

Janice joined Therapeutic Designs & Services, Inc. in 2011 with 25 years of teaching and working with children and families. She earned her Master's of Science in Education degree with a concentration in Early Childhood Learning and Behavioral Disorders from the State University of New York College at Fredonia. 

 

She has trained in the following programs to provide direct one-on-one instruction for the development of essential skills. 

  • Orton-Gillingham’s multisensory approach to teaching reading, writing, and spelling.

  • Lindamood-Bell’s programs for developing phonemic awareness, language comprehension, critical thinking, and math reasoning & computations.

  • Sensory Integration techniques to improve attention, visual & auditory pro-cessing, motor skills, and social/emotional development.

Nicole Kennedy, Physical Therapist
 

Nicole graduated from the Medical College of Georgia in 1985 with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy. She has practiced in Georgia and South Carolina in a variety of settings including outpatient clinics, home health, rehabilitation centers, and at the Medical College of Georgia Medical Center. Nicole has a private practice in Hartsville, SC which was established in 1993. She specializes in pediatric physical therapy and yoga therapy for adults and children. She has training in NDT, Sensory Integration, Myofascial Release, Balance Training, and Kinesotaping, and Yoga for the Special Child. Yoga therapy training has included Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy, YogaFit Level 1, Yamuna Body Rolling, and Professional Yoga Therapy Studies
